What patients say on Google

“Dr. Chowdhury is such a wonderful and caring psychiatrist!! I have been seeing her for 10 years now, and have followed her to the Hawkins group! She is very patient, kind and understanding. Georgia works in scheduling and is fantastic also!! She is so sweet and caring! Thank you for everything Dr Chowdhury!!”

“I followed my provider here when she moved practices. First appointment, I waited half an hour in the lobby because they forgot to tell her I was there. Every time I had a telehealth appointment, I had to pay online before they would let me access the video. Which is kind of annoying and takes time out of my appointment. They don't send paper bills to you after the fact like most medical practices. They charged me my copay after zi had met my OOP max and insisted I pay anyway instead of, uh, doing their job? so I had to call back and get refunded later which took time out of my day. Oh wait, they tell you to "arrive" 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time.. what's the point of an appointment then!? You'd expect excellent service with strict rules like this but no. Let me tell you: they're a disaster. Oh, and they will charge you for every single thing. Be aware that they do charge $120 for your first late or no show, you don't get a grace period. They're extremely strict on that despite all the inconvenience and *my* time they wasted multiple times previously. It only goes one way apparently. I always have trouble getting ahold of the Birmingham office. It's a pain to reschedule or cancel. It's a pain to get a refill. I ended up cold turkey quitting a med because they took over a week to refill once. Lol. Was NOT fun. Ended up dropping them entirely because they're a waste of time and money, and also because antidepressants don't have any effect on me except side effects. Rather than continuing to try another 10 antidepressants and risk physical side effects that my health and body doesn't like (including high cholesterol *appetite didn't change btw* and the one time i almost got diabetes from one), i'm over it. 0/10 go somewhere else”

“The receptionists are AWFUL at this place. They NEVER answer the phone. They don't answer emails, chat, or phone calls. They rarely give a call back if you leave a voicemail. They never give any updates on any situation you bring to their attention. They only respond with "we will let your provide know" which I don't think they actually do! What do they do all day if they aren't doing anything on their job list! This facility charges way too many fees to have the worst receptionists l've ever experienced in my life.”

“This is absolutely the worst mental health practice I have ever experienced. They will charge you $100+ so fast for the smallest thing! I had one successful appointment and couldn’t make the second one timely - not only could I not be seen until this RIDICULOUSLY high fee was paid, I could not get any of my medications refilled. There was no number to contact my provider. What kind of practice has no number to reach your provider ? These people don’t care about your mental health. They care about your money. If you have the smallest inconvenience - they won’t do anything to help you until you pay. This is unethical and it won’t change. This type of client handling is damaging and ineffective for today’s time. Mental health medications should not be inaccessible completely due to fees like this. It is dangerous to be on medications and then have to stop abruptly, but this agency does not care. It’s all about money! I would strongly advise checking your benefits for Teladoc. If you have benefits for this - you can have a video call or telephone call for a psychiatrist. And guess what -> YOU CAN CONTACT THEM! There IS a way to reach them! I get care for $0.00 every visit now since switching and I would strongly advise looking into this. If you have a controlled substance medication, consider getting this through your primary care doctor in concordance with a psychiatrist. They cannot prescribe controlled substances with Teladoc. Lastly, Teladoc also has therapists as well (they can’t prescribe anything - but provide therapy). I don’t like leaving these types of reviews, but the nature of this type of service is sensitive and transparency is not provided by these people at all. Please don’t shrug off the reviews.”
